OTS Mount
Sonar Accesories
Modular Over-The-Side mounting system for various sonar and sensor types
Simple deployment for sonar equipment
Rapid, straightforward installation enables survey mobilisation without complex lifting systems or specialist handling.
Unlocks sonar use on diverse vessel types
Enables sonar deployment from vessels of opportunity, expanding survey capability beyond dedicated platforms.
Stable platform for accurate data acquisition
Rigid mounting reduces movement and vibration, supporting consistent sensor performance and reliable data quality.
Compatible with multiple sonar systems
Supports e.g., multibeams, side scan, bathymetric, and sub-bottom systems, enabling flexible use across survey types.
Accessible equipment during operations
Over-the-side configuration keeps sensors within reach, allowing quick inspection, adjustment, or recovery at sea.
Adaptable to different survey requirements
Modular pole and mounting options allow configuration to suit varying vessel layouts and deployment depths.
Rugged and simple Over-The-Side Mount for sonar equipment
The GeoAcoustics’ OTS Mount has been in use for
over 20 years and is a tried and tested design for
mounting sonar equipment on various vessel
types.
It consists of four components which
together form a reliable and stable mounting
platform for a vast array of sonar equipment such
as side scan and bathymetric, or sub-bottom profiler systems.
Although principally designed for operation with
GeoAcoustics Ltd equipment, the OTS Mount can
be modified for almost any third-party sensor using
a simple custom adapter. The rugged design offers
clear advantages over other systems and employs work drives to raise and lower the pole. A range of
GNSS position/heading sensors can be fitted to the
top of the OTS Mount pole set.
Boom Mounting Plate
The boom mounting plate provides a secure interface between the vessel and mounting system, fixed directly to the deck or framework. Positioned perpendicular to vessel travel, it ensures consistent sensor alignment and stability during data acquisition.
Stabiliser
The stabiliser connects the pole to the vessel structure, reducing movement and vibration during operation. This added rigidity supports more stable sensor positioning, which is particularly important for systems requiring precise measurements and consistent data quality.
Pole
The pole system comprises three modular sections that can be configured to suit vessel geometry and required deployment depth. This flexibility allows operators to achieve appropriate sensor submergence while maintaining safe and practical installation across different platforms.
System Components
The OTS Mount consists of a boom mounting plate, stabiliser, and modular pole system, forming a stable platform for sonar deployment. Together, these components provide structural support, positioning control, and flexibility across different vessel configurations and survey requirements.
GNSS
Optional GNSS mounting solutions allow integration of positioning and heading sensors directly onto the pole assembly. This enables accurate spatial referencing of acquired data and supports compatibility with a range of dual-antenna or integrated navigation systems.
